Community based service learning has the potential to play a significant role in the Women’s Studies classroom. Both share a similar focus on principles of egalitarianism in the learning process and a commitment to the multiple ways in which students learn. In particular, service learning offers Women’s Studies students the opportunity to work in communities beyond the University and make connections between their scholarship and the gendered nature of many current social problems. This website serves as a resource for Women's Studies instructors at Penn State and includes a how-to manual and bibliography as well as a local resource guide to be used within the context of the Introduction to Women’s Studies courses at the University Park Campus.
